Welcome, Daisy Meadows

March brings longer days, sunnier weather, and, if you’re a fan of CTMH, a new seasonal catalogue! The first collection in this catalogue edition is called Daisy Meadows, and truly captures that spring feel in the air. Here is a sample picture from the catalogue of a project using this beautiful new suite of products.

I used the Daisy Meadows Paper Pack and the Scrapbooking Stamp + Thin Cuts Set from this new collection, along with some other CTMH products, to create the beautiful card, below.

The first step in creating this card was stamping all the images in our Intense Black Ink – this ink is specially formulated to take both alcohol markers and watercolours without smearing. The first layer of flowers was stamped directly onto the smaller piece of Daisy White Cardstock – I’m going to be honest, this took three tries before I got it right, and even this version has a tiny mistake that is being covered by the bunny 🙈 I then stamped the cluster of flowers and bunny onto scraps of Daisy White Cardstock, and cut them out using my die cutting machine. After letting the ink dry for about fifteen minutes, I coloured all the images in using my Spectrum Noir Triblend Markers, which allow for easy blending of shades.

Next, I stamped the New Beginnings sentiment using our Peach Exclusive Ink Stamp Pad first, so that I had a nice clean stamping surface. I then used thin 3D foam tape for the cluster of flowers, and regular 3D foam tape for the bunny to make it appear as though one image was in front of the other.

The last step before attaching all the pieces of cardstock together was to ink up the sides of the Daisy White Cardstock with the same Peach ink all round the edges. This can be done using a blending brush, but I just lightly brushed the edges of the cardstock directly against the stamp pad. This gives an illusion of the cardstock popping off the card, without adding any more dimension – important if you plan to snail mail your card, which I was.

I matted the White Daisy Cardstock onto a piece of Daisy Meadows patterned paper, which in turn was matted onto a piece of Peach cardstock, and lastly, I added a few Daisy Meadow Dots in Peacock to give the card some extra visual appeal.

This was one of my more labour-intensive cards, but I truly enjoyed creating it because it is customized for a good friend of mine. She is recently engaged, just bought a new house in a new city, and is currently looking to change teaching positions – talk about New Beginnings! I knew I also had to include a bunny on the card, as she has two of her own pet rabbits that are near and dear to her.

I can’t wait to continue playing with the Daisy Meadows Scrapbooking Stamp and Thin Cut set – it is perfect not only for spring projects, but can be used in many layouts and cards, as I showed you 😊
